Companion Bots Activity

Building with Arduino electronics is a gateway to learning circuits, coding skills and creating your own inventions. Connect inputs to outputs with clever code and suddenly have intruder alarms, beautiful RGB light sequences and automatic plant watering systems. Learning Arduino can be a tedious pathway for technical and non-technical minds alike, and standard Arduino workshops blinking LEDs and moving motors don’t appeal to everyone.

I’ve designed an activity to put the excitement back into Arduino right at the start of the tedious learning process. Build your own companion bot in this ‘choose your own adventure’ style guide. Choose a chassis type and make your bot come to life with moving motors and blinking LEDs.

This is a great school holiday activity that can be run over two days, and you can find all the instructions for this activity on Hackster.

Here’s a video demo of my example robot, Russel Crow.
